The Kinds Of People You Meet

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Someone once told me that there are 4 kinds of people you’ll meet in life, all based on the four basic mathematic symbols: + x - /

Firstly there are people who add something to you (+). These are the people who help to make life’s journey enjoyable. They are the ones that know how to get you to laugh, or think, relax or know how to make sure you have a good time. All in all they are great company to be with and they always find ways to ‘add’ something to the quality and experience of your life.

Then there are the subtracters (-). These are the people who for whatever reason take more from you than they give. It may be because they are going through a difficult patch and need to draw on you for support. Or it may be because they are only concerned with what they can get out of any relationship. Their agenda is to take, take, take!

Then their are those who are ‘dividers’ (/). These are the people who actually mean you harm. They do things to hurt you, somethings intentionally, and often give themselves away by a constant stream of negative talk, gossiping, or behind the scene moves to assassinate your character and sabotage the things you are trying to achieve.

And finally you have the ‘multipliers’ (x). This is an extremely rare group, extremely rare. They are like gold dust! These are the people whose committment to you goes beyond the mistakes in your past, what you presently have or what you are currently experiencing in life. They see something more. They know there is more to you than meets the eye and most importantly they will self-sacrificially do whatever they can to see your potential fulfilled with…and heres the key…no strings attached!

Each group of people are valuable to you but in completely different ways. I’ll go into it a bit more in my next post

Thanks for stopping by,

What Are You Asking For?

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

The next time you need a confidence boaster to get you motivated, or simply when you’re feeling a little down, read this to yourself:

I asked God for Strength….And He gave me Difficulties to make me strong.

I asked God for Wisdom……And He gave me Problems to solve.

I asked God for Prosperity… And He gave me Brain and Brawn to work.

I asked God for Courage….. And He gave me Danger to overcome.

I asked God for Love….. And He gave me Troubled people to help.

I asked God for Favours….. And He gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted….I received everything I needed!

“IF”

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream–and not make dreams your master,
If you can think–and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings–nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And–which is more–you’ll be a Man, my son!
